DIRECTIONS TO THE START OF HOSPICE WALKS

North Down Coastal Path

Starts at Queens Leisure Complex, Sullivan Place, Holywood, BT18 9HL at 10am
North Down Coastal Walk Route: New slightly extended routes for 2010 due to route diversion
Route A: Holywood to Crawfordsburn 6.5 miles (normally 5 miles)
Route B: Holywood to Bangor 9.5 miles (normally 8 miles)

The hospice Walk

Take M3 motorway towards Bangor, M3 becomes Sydenham Bypass, then Belfast Road, Don’t take the first exit for Holywood centre, but follow on to 2nd access point on dual carriageway where you take 2nd filter lane at lights and turn right into Sullivan Place. Queens Hall is on right hand side.

Translink have kindly donated free rail tickets for hospice walkers needing to get from Belfast Central Station to Holywood for the start of this walk, or to return from Bangor or Crawfordsburn to Belfast Central Station, at the end of the walk. Carrickfergus

Take the M5 from Belfast which becomes A2, to Carrickfergus. The Carrickfergus castle is on the right hand side.

Lagan Tow Path

Route A :Starts at Lagan Valley Island, Lisburn, BT27 4RL at 10am (Route A Lisburn to Belfast Activity Centre, Barnett’s Park, Belfast, BT9 5PB - 8 miles)

Route B : Starts at Cutter’s Wharf, Stranmillis, BT9 5FJ at 10am (Route B Cutter’s Wharf to Belfast Activity Centre, Barnett’s Park, Belfast, BT9 5PB - 3 miles)

Both Route A and Route B finish at Belfast Activity Centre in Barnetts Park, Belfast, BT9 5PB.

Route A Start Point – Lisburn Civic Centre

From M1 motorway take main exit for Lisburn town centre.  Follow signs for town centre along Saintfield Road -Sloan Street - Union Bridge to roundabout.  Take 4th exit along Queens Road and the civic centre is on the right hand side on Queens Road.


Route B Start Point – Cutter’s Wharf.

From Belfast City Centre go up Great Victoria Street onto Bradbury Place then onto University Road, fork left onto Stranmillis Road.  When you come to the roundabout take the 2nd exit, Cutter’s Wharf is on the left hand side. 

From the South, take the Stockmans Lane exit of the Motorway, take 2nd exit off roundabout onto Stockman’s Lane.  Follow road through traffic lights going straight onto Balmoral Avenue. At the junction with Malone Road take a left onto Malone Road. At traffic lights take a right onto Stranmillis Road, at the roundabout take 3rd exit, Cutters Wharf is on the left side.

From the North, follow Westlink onto M1 take the Stockmans Lane exit and take 1st exit off roundabout from here as per directions from the South.
