DIRECTIONS TO THE START OF HOSPICE WALKS
North Down Coastal Path - starting time: 10.00 am
There are two walking routes for the North Down Coastal Path.
Route A: Holywood to Crawfordsburn - 5 miles
Route B: Holywood to Bangor - 8 miles
Starting Point for both routes:
Queen’s Leisure Complex, Sullivan Place, Holywood, BT18 9HL
Finishing Points:
Route A: Crawfordsburn Country Park
Route B: Pickie Pool, Bangor
Directions to Starting Points from Belfast:
Take M3 motorway towards Bangor, M3 becomes Sydenham Bypass, then Belfast Road, Don’t take the first exit for Holywood centre, but follow on to 2nd access point on dual carriageway where you take 2nd filter lane at lights and turn right into Sullivan Place. Queen’s Hall is on right hand side.
We regret that Translink are unable to supply complimentary rail tickets for our walkers this year; however hospice will continue to offer walkers transport from Crawfordsburn and Shaw's Bridge to the nearest train station as normal.
Carrickfergus - starting time: 10.00 am
Carrickfergus Walk Route - 7 miles
Starting Point:
Carrickfergus Castle, BT38 7BG
Finishing Point:
Close to Carrickfergus Castle, BT38 7BG
Directions to Starting point from Belfast:
Take the M5 from Belfast which becomes A2, to Carrickfergus. The Carrickfergus castle is on the right hand side.
Lagan Tow Path – starting time: 10.00 am
There are two walk routes for the Lagan Tow Path
Route A: Lisburn to Belfast Activity Centre - 8 miles
Route B: Cutter’s Wharf to Belfast Activity Centre - 3 miles
Starting Point:
Route A: Lagan Valley Island, Lisburn, BT27 4RL
Route B: Cutter’s Wharf, Stranmillis, BT9 5FJ
Finishing Point for both routes:
Belfast Activity Centre in Barnetts Park, Belfast, BT9 5PB.
Directions to Starting Points:
Route A Start Point – Lisburn Civic Centre
From M1 motorway take main exit for Lisburn town centre. Follow signs for town centre along Saintfield Road -Sloan Street - Union Bridge to roundabout. Take 4th exit along Queen’s Road and the civic centre is on the right hand side on Queen’s Road.
Route B Start Point – Cutter’s Wharf.
From Belfast City Centre go up Great Victoria Street onto Bradbury Place then onto University Road, fork left onto Stranmillis Road. When you come to the roundabout take the 2nd exit, Cutter’s Wharf is on the left hand side.
From the South, take the Stockmans Lane exit of the Motorway, take 2nd exit off roundabout onto Stockman’s Lane. Follow road through traffic lights going straight onto Balmoral Avenue. At the junction with Malone Road take a left onto Malone Road. At traffic lights take a right onto Stranmillis Road, at the roundabout take 3rd exit, Cutters Wharf is on the left side.
From the North, follow Westlink onto M1 take the Stockmans Lane exit and take 1st exit off roundabout from here as per directions from the South.
